They are everywhere! You see them at grocery stores, sporting events, concerts, churches, parks, shopping malls, restaurants, and schools. They make up more than 15 percent of the U.S. population. As they continue to influence our country, society and churches, those over 50 will be a dynamic and influential force in shaping the 21st century.
At Cornerstone, we believe that we have a unique opportunity to engage and empower this resourceful army of present and potential volunteers. Those over 50 care deeply about the world they live in and have a vast storehouse of knowledge and experience that can be used to influence the church and community.
Our mission is to provide teaching, encouragement and fellowship which will lead to the spiritual growth of those over 50 and will allow them to develop and use their spiritual gifts.
Throughout the year, this special group of adults will have many weekday and monthly activities and a variety of trips. There are also many opportunities for service including volunteering at the church during and week and working in various ministries.
Jesus is our model of a balanced person who grew spiritually, mentally, relationally, and physically (see Luke 2:52). All of life is to be dedicated to God and used to bring Him glory. Those over 50 continue to be growing individuals with a wide range of interests and abilities. Therefore, programming centers around five areas:
- Spiritual Enrichment
- Learning (Growth) Opportunities
- Socials
- Services Needed
- Services Provided
We can promise…there is something for everybody!
